| About Me: | wuts goin on carster-ers, my name is raph. i'm from chilltown, new jeruz -bka- jersey city, nj. born and raised. on a playground is where is spent most of my days...j/p. seriously though, i've been in the car scene for something like 8-9 years now. pretty much since i got my license. the first thing that put me on was this black '90 crx i used to see when i walked home from highschool. it had a full lip kit and the old school five spoke rims with a drop n tints. i remember thinkin that was the hottest car to prowl the streets of jc. that was until some of my older neighborhood friends started getting in the whole scene. one of my boys bought a 95 accord 4 door. i know that doesn't sound like much, but to a 16 year kid, thats pretty hot. he dropped it n put on the same old school 5 spokes i loved on the crx. tinted with a system i just had to sweat it. a year or so later he started gettin into the performance aspect of it all. at the same point i got my license n started savin money to hook up the car i was pimpin': a teal blue '94 Pontiac Sunbird. yeah baby!!! it was a hand me down from my older sis. so i decided to go the ghetto route. i bought an opak universal exhaust and 17" chome split five stars. the rims didn't fit so i had to raise the car with ghetto ass spring spacers. in retrospect i can see that the car was #1 top rated rice-a-roni, but at the time i thought it was bad as hell. especially with the 17" chromes, which were considered big at the time. all this came into perspective when i got whooped in a race with a person that came to be one of my good friends, mr. arnon-dao -aka- the July Carster Winner man. he had his '96 civic ex coupe with an intake. we were headin down the shore with some of the crew when he asked me to race. now keep in mind he knew that his car was much lighter and had more power than my 3000lb 100hp piece of shiny box on wheels, but he managed to convince me that my exhaust n his intake cancelled each other out. on top of that i had 0.4 liters of displacement on him. so me, being the gullible, but proud dude accepted the challenge. to make a long story short, he smoked me. one thing i have to say though, he didn't gloat or brag, or even make me feel bad. he simply smiled and gave me a dap. i learned that night, that i didn't wanna be a ricer anymore. btw, shouts to concept alpha and icr, old school rollin to the beach n shiiiiet. anyway, thank you arnon-dao for helpin me find the path of the righteous and fast. after that i was introduced to this up n coming car crew: ImporTeknika. at the time i din feel worthy to be in their ranks. they all had rep-worthy cars, and i did not. after i got my turbo eclipse that changed. the crew was growin strong with new members being added monthly. we had a decent presence at street races and the local parkinglot hangouts. soon after we started reppin at car shows and tracks. it was a grand old time. but, alas, like all good things, my fun with the team had to end. i blew my headgasket while runnin my car hard one day. that's when i fell off. weeks, months, n now years have passed since i've driven my car or kept up with the crew. but now, thanks to carster, i can keep up with them anytime im online!!! woohoo carster!!! yeah... that was kinda gay. anyway, wuts your story? |
