Carster: Asleep at the Switch?

Monday Nov 19, 2007 08:28:00 PM

Carster.com seems a nice enough place... nice layouts, adequate functionality, good-natured competition, cool members... but it appears sometimes to have been orphaned by its creators.

As of this blog entry, the last news article is dated 7 months prior, there hasn't been a winning car in over a year, and a chunk of the site programming has periodic bugs.

And it's a shame. I recognize that this site isn't likely the sole venture or financial resource for its creators, but I think it deserves better. Its not cluttered with ads and attitude like cardomain.com (which also seems to be very clique-ish, IMHO), and was obviously started with great things in mind. Like the company profile states:

"Originating out of Seattle, Washington, Carster.com is a rapidly growing online community for auto enthusiasts. The website allows its members to create their own online "garage" that stores personal information and photos, as well as video clips, photos and histories of registrants' cars. Carster is also building an archive of car related news, photos and event coverage which you'll find nowhere else. "

Maybe the vision of its creators has faded. Maybe Carster is just in a period of transition. Maybe it is secretly being tweaked. Maybe the administrators are simply waiting to hear from the members. Until then, Carster is running on autopilot. Any ideas of what we can do to make it more inviting to new members and to keep it fresh for those already here? I, for one, would love to hear them.

I agree, this site would be much better with a little more love/attention from the Admins.
