This is my Japanese Domestic Market '92 Toyota Celica GT-four RC (st185h).

Celica: The name is derived from the Spanish word for "heavenly" or "celestial".

Brief history of the Celica RC:

There were only 5000 Celica GT-four RC/Carlos Sainz/GroupA's made in the whole world from '91-'92... this is one of the few (1800) that were dispersed in the Japanese market. In the late '80s Toyota wanted to put a car into the WRC circuit. As a rule to put a car into the events of the WRC it has to have a minimum of 5000 production cars to the public. That's when the GT-four RC was born. None were imported to the united States and they are not legal to import unless you have a bunch of money for modifications. Mine didn't undergo any changes and it is completely legal in the States.

Specs and Info:
If any of these are wrong, please tell me. These are correct to the best of my knowledge.

  • Toyota produced about 26,000 ST185's, including 5,000 RC/CS/Grp A versions.
  • The ST185 RC/CS/Grp A version is an limited production of 5,000 cars.
These were build from August 1991 till Februar 1992, with numbers 15,000 - 22,000.
The mark RC is for: Rally Championship, CS is for: Carlos Sainz, Grp A is for: Group A car. These cars are having their own special production number and can be recognized by:

    • Different front bumper and hood.
    • Water cooled intercooler with watersprayers (somewhere hidden), in stead of the air cooled intercooler.
    • Other (internal) gearbox (E151F).
    • ECU with fuel- and ignitionmaps till ±1.1 bar in stead of 0.83 bar.

  • Tranny and LSD code: E151F-767 = 5 speed manual with rear Torsen differential.
  • Color: Black (202)
  • Steering location: Right hand drive
  • Bodystyle: Liftback.
  • Model: ST185 = 3S-GTE engine = 2.0 L., turbo + 4WD

Exterior:

The Exterior of the RC is black in color. Stickers present on the side of the car read 'GT-four RC.' The wheels are 15" White OZ Route Rally Racing wheels which were an option from the factory, these are very similar wheel used by the actually WRC version of the car. The wheels are fit'd onto Yokohama iceGUARD tires which really grip in the worst of weather. Rare window visors are present above the windows and read 'celica' along one edge. Being a '92 GT-four, the car is considered a facelifted version. A Toyota Emblem on the Hood is present right below the hood vent which is used for exhausting hot air out of the engine bay which is caused by the CT-26 Twin Entry Ceramic Turbo. The tailights have smoked edges and vented corners. The front bumper is the RC version which has a larger mouth fitted with foglights. Unseen behind the front mesh, two sprayers shoot coolant at the heat condensor at the push of a button. The hoog has 4 outlets, 3 of which are used for expelling hot air and the fourth used for cooling the timing chain which was known for melting on early wrc races with the Celica st165. Power folding mirrors are also present and fold on with the push of a button.

Interior:

One of the best things I like about the interior of the car is that it is Right-hand-drive. There is just something about the uniqueness of it that I just love.
When I first pick'd up the car from North Carolina (2700 miles from my house) it had a Japanese tape deck and radio. The radio couldn't pick up any stations because it was set for Japanese frequencies which are a lot lower then ours here in the states. The highest station I could get was like 77fm, so I box'd that thing up and put it in storage and install'd a Newer Sony with the brush'd aluminum face plate. The interior is a black cloth which was only on that model. the seats are fully adjustable and have power lumbar and side supports. The stearing wheel is made by MOMO with the Toyota insignia on it. The temp guage is in Celcius, the speedo is in Kilometers. No sunroof/moonroof is present on the model I have. It has climate control.
A Global Positioning System was just add'd with 'GT-four RC' wallpaper.
The steering wheel has a telescoping option. A flare is under the passenger dash and is a stock item from the factory, I guess they are required in vehicles in Japan.

Mechanical:

My GT-four is fitted with the 3sgte engine with a water-to-air intercooler and a Ceramic CT-26 Twin entry turbocharger. The RC motors has laser-clad valve seats (the first on any production vehicle), thanks for the info RedCelicaTRD. The car is AWD and is fitted with the TorSen LSD differential which makes the rear end get a little out of control real easy. Especially with the turbo spooling on wet or snowy roads. See the video below. It has a 5spd transmission. Triple cone synchro on second gear and double cone synchro on third .

Videos:
Having a little fun in the snow, man that LSD is fun.

*Do at your own risk.. if you get a ticket don't complain to me.. your the stupid one who was probably being stupid like me.
